Archers are very similar to Wizards, as they are mainly used for damage-dealing, and the only real difference is the fact that they use physical attacks [Bows, Crossbows and Slingshots being the weapons of choice...and your only choice.] and are a bit less squishy than the Wizards. I have not seen an Archer efficiently tank something that's around his/her level [Higher levels easily tank fb19 bosses, etc.], but it is possible with a cleric/charm.

Damage-dealing:
For Archers, it's all about killing things before they touch you. Skills like the Knockback Arrow [Learned at level 19] and the various other skills that push mobs away, help with this. From my personal experience as an Archer, it's more effective/mana-efficient to use a series of attacks similar to: Take Aim [Major damage-dealing skill. The charge time runs down as it is upgraded, and becomes a vital skill later on.] -> Frost Arrow -> Plume Shell -> Lightning skills.
With this series of attacks, you manage to first, do a considerable amount of damage with one hit, second, slow the enemy enough for you to get things under control, third, put up your shell in case you are hit, and finally, nuke the hell out of the mob and kill it dead. After one Lightning Strike or other damage-dealing move, mobs can usually go down with just one or two normal shots.
